Generous donation by Shelley Friedman through the George Elkin Trusts enables ORT Cape continue it’s good work in the underprivileged community.
ORT-Tech ran an exciting, stimulating and innovative Robotics Program at the recent Design Indaba. For two days children were captivated and intrigued by what they built and programmed. The event gave the organisation exposure as many delegates stopped to ask what we were doing.

ORT SA Cape continues its work in education
We are delighted to be given the opportunity to improve the quality of Western Cape educators that influence the youngest learners. This process will give children the building blocks so badly required to have a successful school career which should result in an overall improvement of the quality of the education process.

Jewish Chronile December 2011: World ORT Director General & CEO Robert Singer visits Cape Town

ORT Cape held a function in the honour of Robert Singer on the 24 November at Coffeetime. At the function the merger of ORT-Tech Institute, ORT WC and ORT Jet was announced. The organisation will now be known as ORT Cape. Over 70 people attended the early evening event. Michael Bagraim who is a board member of ORT Tech Institute welcomed Robert Singer to Cape Town. Nilly Baruch vice chair of ORT Cape read out the ORT prayer. Simon Susman the chair of ORT Cape thanked Lydia Abel, the Executive Director of ORT Tech Institute, and her staff, for the success of the organisation and it’s projects during 2011.
Jewish Chronicle March 2012: World ORT – Conference in UK 2012
Dr Lydia Abel, Director of ORT-Tech was invited to attend the World ORT conference in London on ICT in Education. ‘It was such an eye-opener, ‘she said, ‘to see just how ICT can be used and to what effect with properly trained teachers in fantastically well equipped classrooms. I felt like a diabetic in a sweet shop!’

First Lego League
ORT Tech enters a team to compete in the First Lego League
On the 5 November a team of grade 8 and 9 learners from Linge Primary School in Gugulethu will compete with other teams from all over Cape Town in the First Lego League Robotics tournament.
