Vision:

To offer young people in poor and marginalized communities a brighter and "greener" future by deploying cutting edge Mathematics, Science and Technology skills with additional support in leadership, management and entrepreneurship.

Mission:

  • To bring cutting edge, world class Mathematics, Science and Technology curriculum and methodology into the education arena in South Africa.
  • Ensure that educators and young people embrace and transfer acquired knowledge, cognitive and vocational skills, values and leadership to their communities.
  • Provide the youth with skills to develop business plans for environmentally sustainable local economic participation.

ORT-Tech is the innovative education arm of ORT South Africa which operates throughout South Africa in areas of extreme poverty and disadvantage. ORT South Africa forms part of World ORT - an international educational, Non-Government Oganisation (NGO) established in 1880.

For the past fourteen years, ORT-Tech focused on training teachers in Mathematics, Science and Technology and developing management skills in schools. Over the next five years, ORT-Tech plans to move from being a training organisation only, to being an agency offering development and support in marginalized communities of South Africa.
